Trotman Group Opens Sunshine Coast GM
Trotman Auto Group was founded in 1971 and owns nine other dealerships, including one on Vancouver Island and one in Cranbrook. Earlier this year it was named one of Canada’s best-managed companies.
Sunshine Coast Chevrolet Buick GMC will be their first General Motors affiliated dealership.
“General Motors certainly has a direction as a company that I think aligns with lifestyle on the Coast, when you look at things like electric vehicles and green initiatives that GM has been involved with from the beginning,” said general manager and ownership partner Derek Thebault. “They were the first of the big three North American manufacturers to get involved with hybrids and electric vehicles and they’ve certainly put a lot into that.”
Thebault, who moved to the Sunshine Coast from Chilliwack with his family to take on the job of running the dealership, said all the staff are staying on except those who will continue with Haley at its Dodge dealership in Gibsons.
He also said the dealership is continuing its involvement in the Secret Santa Christmas charity that was launched in 2011 by a group that included employees at the dealership, as well as looking for other ways to support the community.
